The Associate Dean, College of Nursing will function as part of a leadership team. The people filling these positions will need strong leadership skills, flexibility and creative problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to their professions, assessment, accountability, and evaluation. The Associate Dean is a full-time academic administrator, and works closely with the school’s academic administrators, academic advising, office of field experience, and administrative staffs, and part-time faculty.
- Maintains quality and integrity of the program curriculum.
- Engages in faculty recruitment, orientation, development, mentoring, and evaluation. Organizing activities of specialization coordinators; working with other service units on faculty development matters.
- Assists with overseeing workload of coordinators and faculty.
- Provides leadership and coordinates projects, processes, and procedures for continuous program improvement initiatives.
- Assists with strategic planning and long-range goals for college.
- Engages in programmatic accreditation and assessment activities.
- College and University committee service; scholarship; and evaluating/assessing the academic programs and student academic performance.
- Developing and maintaining a community of care amongst faculty and students.
- May include responsibility for mentoring, teaching, and supervising student research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- DNP or PhD in Nursing or closely related field required with a Master’s in nursing required from an accredited institution. Specialty area related to the College’s degree programs preferred.
- Holds an active, unencumbered RN license in good standing.
- Five (5) years of leadership experience, distance learning/online experience preferred.
- Faculty Members must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree in the discipline being taught, and may be expected to be licensed or license-eligible to teach in specific programs preferred.
- Faculty Members must maintain their licenses and any appropriate certifications to continue to teach at Walden University preferred.
- Faculty Members are also expected to maintain currency with research by reviewing articles, journals, and presentations preferred.
- If participating in research, the Faculty Member may publish and acknowledge Walden University preferred.
- Candidates should possess a significant record of intellectual and professional contributions to the field of (specific school), including experience in the practice of (field of study).
- Knowledge of accreditation and accountability processes as appropriate.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that emphasizes collaboration and personal accountability.
- Commitment to advocating for the learning and development needs of students earning their degrees in a distance learning environment including students who are experienced professionals.
- Teaching, advising, and mentoring; commitment to inclusive teaching and learning; experience with online learning platforms and student engagement strategies.
- Commitment to the promotion of applied research and the recruitment and development of a diverse faculty; excellent leadership, communication, team, and human relations skills.
- Candidates should also have experience in faculty/staff development, supervision, evaluation, and assessment.
- Knowledge of specialized accreditations in the field. Experience with distance learning preferred.

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $77,996.84 and $140,851.54. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
